Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz wrote: “Christmas is doing a little something extra for someone.” The Unicorn Social Club Holbrooks have certainly taken this message on board. On 12th December 2019, we had a surprise visit from Sue Carr, who presented us with a cheque for £100!
This is a fantastic amount of money that will help us to support vulnerable people in Coventry. The Unicorn Social Club are regular fundraisers for causes around the city. After raising more money then they expected at a recent raffle, they made donations to additional good causes. We are so pleased that we were one of those causes!
This generous, unexpected donation from the Unicorn Social Club really will go a long way in helping our service users. It could be used to provide emergency food, clothing and supplies for families moving to our accommodation. Many of our service users arrive with very little or nothing. Being able to provide welcome packs containing the essentials is vital. The contents of the packs are varied. Some contain items such as tea, coffee and milk. We also offer packs with nightclothes or essentials like milk and nappies for babies. We don’t receive any funding for these packs. Without donations, we simply couldn’t provide them.
So we’d like to say a huge thank you to the Unicorn Social Club and their supporters from everyone here at Valley House.
