Valley House Welcomes New Staff Health and Wellbeing Manager to Foster a Thriving Workplace

Valley House is thrilled to announce the arrival of our newest team member, our Staff Health and Wellbeing Manager, Victoria Brown, who has joined us this week. This exciting addition underscores our unwavering dedication to cultivating a healthy and nurturing workplace environment for all our valued staff and volunteers. We are truly committed to promoting the physical and mental well-being of our team members, and this appointment marks a significant milestone in our journey towards creating a thriving workplace.

#ThriveatWork

Valley House takes pride in being one of just two organisations in the West Midlands region to have achieved the prestigious Silver Level Thrive at Work Wellbeing Award. This accolade not only recognises our ongoing efforts but also validates our commitment to ensuring the welfare of our employees. It reflects our dedication to fostering an environment where our staff can flourish both personally and professionally.

The Thrive at Work accreditation has played a pivotal role in formalizing our approach to health and wellbeing within our organisation. It has provided us with a structured framework to systematically address the physical and mental health needs of our employees and volunteers.

One of the key benefits of this accreditation is the ability to conduct Wellbeing checks and Stress risk assessments. These tools empower us to be proactive in identifying and addressing work-related mental health issues, thereby minimising risks to our staff. By assessing the impact of the physical work environment, we can take measures to enhance the overall well-being of our team members.

Moreover, we have implemented wellbeing action plans as part of our strategy. These plans not only assist in supporting individual needs but also emphasise that it’s perfectly acceptable to admit when you’re not feeling okay. We actively encourage open and honest conversations about mental health, promoting a culture where seeking help and support is celebrated.

As part of our ongoing commitment to staff well-being, we have also introduced two additional ‘wellbeing days.’ These days allow our employees to take unplanned leave without the need for extensive explanations. This initiative demonstrates our dedication to accommodating unforeseen personal or emotional needs that may arise.

Valley House is excited to embark on this new chapter in our journey towards a healthier and happier workplace. With the appointment of our Staff Health and Wellbeing Manager and our Thrive at Work Silver Level accreditation, we are confident that our employees and volunteers will continue to thrive, both personally and professionally, in an environment that prioritises their well-being. We look forward to further initiatives and innovations that will continue to promote a culture of health, balance, and open communication within our organisation.
