In January 2023 Coventry and Warwickshire Trauma Vanguard Project & Coventry and Warwickshire Safeguarding Partnerships (Positive Directions) did a “shout out” for professionals to become trauma informed trainers attending their Trauma Training and our CEO LJ, answered the call!
Alongside other professionals from across a range of organisations she is attending a Train the Trainer programme designed to equip her to deliver bite size training sessions on a range of topics. These include:
- Creating trauma informed spaces
- Keeping staff safe in trauma informed spaces
- Why social prescribing for trauma
- Victim blaming
- Safeguarding with a trauma lens
- Supporting children who have experienced CSA
She will then be part of a team that can offer this training to other professionals from across Coventry as well as to Valley House staff and volunteers.
Trauma is a complicated topic that requires a great deal of knowledge and understanding to address effectively, so it’s important that the latest research and best practices for responding to trauma is understood in organisations like Valley House.
By attending this Trauma Train the Trainer course, LJ will gain valuable insights into the nature of trauma and how it impacts individuals, families, and communities. She will increase her knowledge in relation to the different types of trauma, including physical, emotional, and sexual trauma, as well as the various ways in which these experiences can manifest in a person’s behavior and mental health.
In addition to gaining insight and understanding, LJ will be looking at how best to embed her learning into enhancing the trauma informed way Valley House currently works.
