6% of adults experienced domestic abuse between 2021 and 2022
845,734 of adults in the UK have experienced domestic abuse in the last year.
40% of these cases were referred to independent domestic abuse services like Valley House.
DOMESTIC ABUSE ACCOMMODATION
Who we support
We were able to provide safe, supported accommodation for up to 74 victims of domestic abuse (DA) with or without children, at any one time.
This year our Domestic Abuse Supported Accommodation Service worked with 158 adults and 123 children.
Our comprehensive support covers:
Safety planning and managing risk, understanding the awareness of DA, securing and managing accommodation, understanding the effects of DA on children and improving parenting capacity, building confidence and self esteem, legal and criminal justice issues, managing money, improving physical and mental health and / or substance misuse issues, improving social networks and relationships, increased ability to access training, education and other activities.

YOUNG PARENTS
Who we support
Within the Young Parents Service, we worked with 14 young parents and 13 children.
Our comprehensive support covers:
A safe home and ongoing support from trusted people is important for any young parents. If you don’t have secure accommodation or family support.
For those who are offered accommodation, we have a range of fully furnished, shared and single family accommodation.

Our Community Wellbeing service worked with a total of 22 adults and 4 Children. This service combines therapeutic type interventions with practical support to enable isolated and vulnerable individuals to live healthier and more independent lives.
Our comprehensive support covers:
Accelerate - We specialise in supporting people who would like to work but for various reasons find it hard to get a job and enjoy all the benefits that employment brings. We also offer practical help to deal with problems that may be holding you back.
We have also put together a series of short courses for service users on the Accelerate Project. The topics include: Introduction to Budgeting and Debt Management, What is Stress? Personality and Personal Development, Understanding Me from the Inside Out, 5 Ways to Wellbeing.

NURSERY
Who we support
We are a self-funded nursery offering full day care to both funded and fee paying families. It offers a creative and fun experience to children and seeks to optimise their readiness for school. During 2021/22, 136 children accessed our nursery and holiday club provision. We have a wide range of families from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds and good working relationships with statutory services.

97% said they felt our Domestic Abuse support enabled them to stay safe

67% of service users said after receiving counselling they felt less overwhelmed
94% of our supported accommodation service users said they felt ready to move onto independent living once leaving Valley House
91% of service users were satisfied with the service provided by Valley House
100% of Nursery Parents / Carers were happy with the service provided by our nursery
90% of service users said they would recommend Valley House to others
81% of our service users said they had been given opportunities to get involved with groups, events and forums
